Engine : New Shiney Verge-y Goodness
Posted by The Developer on 2007/9/6 5:25:47 (399 reads)

If you head over to v-rpg right now, then you will find a new build of the engine, the first in like two years. If, however, you wait and do not head over there right now you will instead find only stabbity death instead. Well ok, that, and New Shiny Verge-y Goodness.

Demo : Some demos

If you head on over to v-rpg you will find some posts about a couple of neat demos. Sorry I don't have a fully writeup and this is old news really, but hey at least this isn't like slashdot where I post a dupe from 8 years ago

I changed the default theme. I didn't like the black and I think the new theme more fits on a page dedicated to an RPG GCE anyway. I also added a new members and top posters to the side bar on your right. (No, your other other right)

Site News

As you may have noticed (or probably not actually) there have been some spam comments hitting the stories on the front page. Looks like Arek has already deactivated the accounts and I will be going through over the next couple days and deleting out the comments. So,

Bye Spammers! ^_^

EDIT: To all members: I just disabled several more accounts, including one that was just made, for being likely spammers. Warning: If you create an account and your username has a bunch of numbers in it, expect it to be disabled - This is to prevent people from simply creating "random" accounts for spamming. --Arek

No, I'm not quite dead. I just went into forum administration to figure out why polls weren't working there. The reason is that the forums' polls functionality relies on the xoops polls module, which I don't have right now. In any event, I found something else on the forums and now attachments and image thumbnails should now work. If anybody notices any other problems with the site, please tell me or the_developer. Thank you.

Verge

We here at verge-net need your help. I would like to have a time-line of the history of verge. Maybe even post anniversary dates to the front page.....or have a big stinking time-line.....who knows something crazy I'm sure. But anyway we need your contributions to make this happen. So go on, read more, find what you can and comment on this story to contribute.

Were correct and things. But I do believe I might be back possibly now that I have some more CSS wizardry under my belt. But we'll see. In any event, this site needs some life again.

Well, Hopefully nobody noticed, but there was at least a few minutes of "downtime" earlier when verge-net's permissions were incorrectly changed. The problem has been fixed now.

As I type this, I am about to upgrade to xoops 2.2.4 and CBB 3.0 (new version of NewBB). This upgrade is necessary due to security issues in the version of xoops I am now using. I have no idea how long this will take or even if it will go as planned. In any case, I'm going to have to install a whole bunch of modules (the 2.2 tree doesn't come with ANY), and such, so expect some issues with the FAQ, Downloads, and the like, as I put modules in place for these items. Be aware that the site may be unavailable for extended periods of time during the upgrade, and that the default template WILL change until I find a suitable template for the new version of Xoops I'm installing (this is a Minor Version bump, not a revision bump: 2.0.x to 2.2.x (not 2.0.x to 2.0.x) ). Thank you for your patience.

EDIT: Upgrade done. Major thanks to Ryan from Jamroll for helping me get it done.
